Pragelier is a hamlet with about 20 small homes once owned by the Count, just outside the walls of L'Enclos. Less than a few miles away are Tourtoirac and Excideuil with shopping & restaurants. Perigueux, the largest city in Perigord is 25 minutes. We are less than an hour from Terrason, Sarlat, Les Eyzies, Montignac (Lascaux), Brantome, Limoges and Bergerac. St Emilion is 1 ½ hrs and Bordeaux is 2 hrs away. |

Very nearby lies the Castle of Hautefort. Surrounded by classical French gardens, historical monuments and the first garden of Aquitaine, as well as an English park of 30 hectares. the castle of Hautefort is indeed prestigious. |

Perigord (Dordogne) is one of the most beautiful areas in France and is not overrun with tourists like the Riviera and Provence. The architecture is stunning. This is a rural area with gentle rolling hills and lovely quaint villages. There are many rivers on which delightful canoe trips can be taken. |

The food in Perigord is excellent. Village restaurants are very inexpensive, charging about Euro 9 for a full course, copious meal. There are also many fine Michelin starred restaurants. All the Perigordian specialities such as Foie Gras, confit d'oie and canard and mushrooms of all types are in abundance. |

Many interesting books have been written about the area. May we suggest:
